Who is Raven White?

Raven White is a pen-name used by me, a regular working girl, who has loved the same man for thirteen years. You can probably guess his race, from the nature of the blog.

I  enjoy power-walking, crocheting, traveling, crafting, and especially writing.

I think interracial couples are hot, regardless of the combination. The courage it takes to embark and endure is substantial. You will find no white woman or black man bashing, here. I feel there are too many websites that have that ‘getting back at the brothers’ vibe. My choice of partner is not a reaction against black men dating interracially.  That to me is hypocrisy.  I love black men.  They are my father, brothers, cousins, and friends. …I just don’t limit myself to them.

I began writing these stories a few years back, starting with a fan-fiction filler for 28 Days Later.

In the course of writing, I realized my imagination could help correct many of the wrongs I see done to black female characters.  No more celibate best friends. No more more neck-swerving chicken-heads.  No more missing back or front story.  They could be the leads.  They could be like the women I know and wish I did. 

They could be desired by the male lead, regardless of color. They could be smart, complicated, flawed and most importantly, be romanced and loved by all.

It gives me great pleasure to be able to envision and write this for myself.  I’ve found to my great pleasure, that there have been other people who feel the same way and do the same things (see the author links, Sweetest Taboo and The Chamber, especially).

So, I write.

Now, I am beholden to my life, my own fickle inspiration, and time when it comes to writing, so I can leave stories hanging for awhile.  I know that can be irritating, but I do my best to update, when I can.

Still, I hope it’s not too much of a deterent.
